THE ABC's of CBD

CBD: A Quick Overview

CBD, (also known as cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid that is found in the flowers, leaves and stems of the hemp plant. CBD is a cannabinoid known to aide in providing relief for inflammation, pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia and depression. CBD is similar in structure to substances our bodies naturally produce called endocannabinoids, which help regulate and balance many processes in the body for stability, health, and a sense of wellbeing.

Why do people use CBD?
Many people use CBD to promote a state known as homeostasis, the body’s natural tendency to maintain a healthy balance in all its systems. Our products are designed to focus on CBD’s anti-inflammatory, muscle soothing and pain reducing benefits. We formulate our products with complementary herbs, minerals and
essential oils that magnify these benefits. Studies have shown that CBD helps reduce pain, stress, inflammation, and anxiety by interacting with the neurotransmitters in your body. Neurotransmitters are often referred to as the body's chemical messengers, and they help regulate bodily systems at a cellular level.

The Endocannabinoid System:
The endocannabinoid system is essentially a system of receptors in the human body that regulates all sorts of functions within the body. This system's job is to maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis is the body's state of balance. The endocannabinoid system plays a role in:

1. Appetite
2. Mood
3. Memory
4. Immune system strength
5. Physically stability
6. Overall homeostasis

The endocannabinoid system is made up of three main parts:

Endocannabinoids:These are molecules that help the endocannabinoid system maintain its balance. Our bodies produce endocannabinoids constantly to help regulate internal and external issues.
Cannabinoid receptors: These receptors are what react to the different cannabinoids. There are two receptors that act as a signaling system in the body to help regulate biological processes. The CB1 receptor regulates appetite and memory, while the CB2 receptor focuses on the immune system.
Enzymes: In the endocannabinoid system enzymes act as a catalyst by breaking down and helping the body to reuse endocannabinoids.

Why Homeostasis is important:
Homeostasis is the way our body keeps itself running smoothly. It ensures that our systems are working properly and it keeps all of the moving parts in harmony. Our bodies are constantly trying to maintain homeostasis, and it has an impact on both physical and mental health. CBD can provide an extra boost to help calm and heal the body, as well as alleviate stress. It offers a great way to help keep balance and allow your body to function at its optimal potential.

Is CBD a drug?
